Where Our Town's Children Learn to Play The Game of Soccer and Have Fun in a Soccer Safe Environment

Volunteer Roles

WYAA is a family experience. As a WYAA volunteer, a parent gets to participate with their child and teach the values of giving back to the community. Sometimes it’s the whole family with parents, siblings and grandparents all getting in on the act.

Coaching and refereeing may be the most visible volunteer roles, but there are many ways to help a team or League. Many volunteer roles require small amounts of time, but are very valuable to the kids. There is a WYAA volunteer opportunity for everyone.

Here are some roles that are important to the success of our Wolcott Soccer Program.

Registration Reimbursement for Recreation Coaches
The first two adults for each recreation team who volunteer to coach, successfully complete a background check, and begin our Grassroots Training Program will be eligible for a registration partial refund for their child*.   Please reach out to J Gibson at [email protected] with any additional questions about the training process.

Necessary Requirements:

  1. Background Check
  2. Completion of online CDC Concussion training
  3. Completion of online Risk Management training
  4. Completion of online Grass Roots training with US Youth Soccer
  5. Completion of age-appropriate training (i.e. 7v7) with CJSA

*Wolcott Soccer will reimburse training fees upon completion of each session.   Registration reimbursement will be honored the end of the season, provided that the coach remains committed to the program for the entirety of the season.  Reimbursement is only eligible to the player of the age division that the adult is coaching.  If an adult does not successfully complete coaching requirements, subsequent volunteers may become eligible for reimbursement in the order that they registered.  This offer is not retro-active to previous seasons.

Time commitment: 4-6 hrs/wk during season. A coach participates on game days, holds team practices, teaches game fundamentals to the players, and helps players develop good sportsmanship. Attends coach training, and weekly practices and games. You don’t need to have played soccer or know much about it in order to coach. Particularly at the lower levels, many coaches learn the game along with their kids.

Assistant Coach
Time commitment: 4-6 hrs/wk during season. The assistant coach assists the coach at practices and games and stands in for the coach when necessary. Attends coach training and weekly practices and games.

Team Parent
Time commitment: 1½ hrs/wk during season. The team parent assists the coach and assistant coach, e.g., distributing uniforms, information, etc.
