Where Our Town's Children Learn to Play The Game of Soccer and Have Fun in a Soccer Safe Environment

Recreation - U5/2016 Dino Program.

This is the youngest program offered by Wolcott Soccer and is our way of introducing our soccer program to your child and the family. Children born in 2016 are eligible to play in this group for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.

The focus of this program is to introduce your child to the ball and start working on basic skills for learning the game of soccer and simply make it fun.

Spring Registration will be open January 1, 2021.

This group will meet at the Wolcott Sports Complex, 473 Spindle Hill Rd on Saturday mornings, 8:30-9:15, on Meghan's Field (the first field to the left when you pull in - not the field by the clubhouse).  All cancellations will be sent to registered participants through email.

We ask that you please approach the fields no more than 5 minutes before your session.  This will give coaches ample time to set up between groups and sanitize equipment, as well as make sure that all prior groups have left.  (If you have children in back-to-back groups, we do not expect you to leave.)  When your session has ended, please leave the field immediately so that we can prepare for the next group.

Please check out CJSA Return to Soccer Activities Guidelines paying special attention to pages 5-8, where they lay out the expectations of the club, coaches, parents and players.  For recreation, coaches will be working together to formulate practice modules that also follow a 3-phase procedure.  The measures outlined in this document Covid-19 specific, so the following are just a few additional reminders or club-specific additions to their policy:

  • Do not wear jewelry to practices or games.
  • Uniforms/Pinnies, shin guards and a ball are all necessary. If players do not have them during practice, they will not be able to participate in some or all aspects of practice and games.

 Expectation for Parents

  • Please wear a mask at all times when on soccer grounds.
  • Animals are not allowed on soccer grounds.
  • If you must speak with a coach, please try to do so over text or email.
  • If there is no trash can at the field, please notify coaches so we can request it from the town.
  • Remember that all spectators are required to show respect to players, referees, coaches, and other parents.  Please do not put coaches or referees in the uncomfortable position of having to ask someone to leave the field.  In the event that this happens, the game may be stopped and/or cancelled at the discretion of the referees.
  • If you are at any time uncomfortable about safety measures or precautions, please make sure to express it to the coaches.

Expectation for Coaches

  • When players arrive to the field for practices and games, I (or another coach) will be at the field entrance with hand sanitizer and a thermometer.  We will be taking attendance and temperatures before every practice and every game, in addition to our safety checks of shin guards, cleats, pinnies, and no jewelry.  There will be a log of this, in the event that someone does get sick and we need to participate in any contact tracing with Chesprocott or the CDC.  Any player with a temperature over 100.4 will be sent home and cannot return to play until receiving a doctor’s note.
  • At the end of each practice, we will also hand sanitize again before sending players home.
